Self-adjusting brakes

Your vehicle is equipped with modern, self-adjusting brakes designed to maintain optimal pedal response over time.

The front disc-type brakes self-adjust automatically every time the brake pedal is depressed. Meanwhile, the rear drum-type brakes self-adjust automatically every time the emergency parking brake is applied.

Brake pad wear indicators

The disc brake pads on your Nissan Versa are engineered with built-in audible wear indicators. When a brake pad wears down and requires replacement, a distinct, high-pitched scraping or screeching sound will be heard while the vehicle is in motion. This warning noise will be audible whether or not the brake pedal is currently being depressed. Have your brakes inspected as soon as possible if you hear this indicator sound.

Under certain driving conditions, environmental factors, or severe weather climates, occasional brake squeak, squeal, or other minor noises may be heard. Occasional brake noise during light to moderate stops is completely normal and does not affect the function, safety, or performance of the brake system.
