Nissan Versa: Do-it-yourself - Fuses

If any electrical equipment or accessory in your Nissan Versa fails to operate, you should first check for an open, blown fuse.

Electrical fuses are utilized extensively to protect circuits within the passenger compartment.

Convenient spare fuses are provided and can be found stored directly inside the passenger compartment fuse box.

When installing a replacement fuse, always make sure the new fuse is inserted into the fuse block securely and firmly.

Engine compartment

CAUTION

Never install a replacement fuse of a higher or lower amperage rating than that specified explicitly on the fuse box cover. Using incorrect ratings could severely damage the vehicle's electrical system, delicate electronic control units, or even start an electrical fire.

If any electrical equipment in the engine bay or exterior lighting does not come on, check for an open fuse.

1. Make certain that both the ignition switch and the headlight switch are turned completely to the OFF position.

2. Open the engine hood securely.

3. Remove the engine compartment fuse box cover by pushing the locking tab and lifting the cover straight up.

4. Remove the suspected fuse using the specialized fuse puller.

The handy fuse puller tool is located right in the center of the fuse block situated in the passenger compartment.

5. If you determine that the fuse is open and blown A , replace it with a brand-new fuse matching the exact amperage rating B .

6. If a newly installed fuse immediately blows open again, it indicates an underlying short circuit. Have the vehicle's electrical system checked and repaired professionally. It is recommended that you visit an authorized NISSAN dealer for this service.

Fusible links

If any major electrical equipment does not operate and you confirm that all standard fuses are in good condition, check the heavy-duty fusible links located within the holder. If any of the fusible links are melted or broken, replace them exclusively with Genuine NISSAN parts.

Passenger compartment

If any interior electrical equipment fails to operate, check for an open fuse.

NOTE:

The interior fuse box is located conveniently on the driver's side lower section of the instrument panel.

1. Ensure that the ignition switch and the headlight switch are completely turned OFF.

2. Carefully remove the fuse box cover A using a suitable tool. Wrap the tool tip in a clean cloth to avoid scratching or damaging the surrounding interior trim.

3. Locate the specific fuse corresponding to the non-working component that needs to be replaced.

4. Remove the target fuse using the integrated fuse puller tool B .

5. If the inspected fuse is open C , replace it with an equivalent, good working fuse of the correct amperage rating D .

6. Press the fuse box cover firmly back into place to reinstall it.

If a newly replaced fuse blows out again right away, have the electrical system thoroughly checked and repaired. It is recommended that you visit an authorized NISSAN dealer for this service.
