Iridium-tipped spark plugs

It is not necessary to replace the factory-installed iridium-tipped A spark plugs nearly as frequently as conventional standard-type spark plugs because they possess a much higher wear resistance and longevity. Always follow the official maintenance schedule and mileage log detailed in the "Maintenance and schedules" section of this owner's manual. Do not ever attempt to service or clean iridium-tipped spark plugs by abrasive cleaning or regapping, as this can destroy the precious metal tips.

• Always replace worn spark plugs exclusively with factory-recommended or exact equivalent parts designed for your engine.

WARNING

Before beginning any under-hood work, always make certain that the engine and ignition switch are completely turned off and that the emergency parking brake is engaged securely.

CAUTION

Be sure to use the exact correct spark plug socket size and type to remove and install the spark plugs. Using an incorrect or ill-fitting socket can crack the ceramic insulator and damage the spark plugs.
