Nissan Versa: Pre-driving checks and adjustments - Steering wheel

WARNING

Do not attempt to adjust the steering wheel column while driving. Making adjustments on the move can distract your attention from the road, cause you to lose control of your vehicle, and potentially result in a serious accident.

• When setting your driving position in the Nissan Versa, do not adjust the steering wheel any closer to your chest than is absolutely necessary for comfortable arm reach and proper steering control.

  The driver's supplemental front-impact air bag inflates with immense speed and force during a collision. If you are riding unrestrained, leaning forward, sitting sideways, or otherwise out of a proper upright position, you face a significantly higher risk of severe injury or death in a crash. You may also sustain serious or fatal impact injuries from the air bag assembly if you are positioned too close to it during deployment. For maximum safety, always sit fully back against the seatback and adjust the seat as far away from the steering wheel as practical while maintaining full control of the pedals. Always ensure your seat belt is correctly fastened.

Tilt and telescopic operation

Push the column lock lever (labeled 1) down to release the steering wheel mechanism:

• Adjust the height of the steering wheel up or down along direction 2 to your preferred driving position.
• Adjust the reach of the steering wheel forward or backward along direction 3 to find a comfortable distance.

Pull the lock lever (labeled 1) back up firmly to its original locked position to secure the steering wheel column tightly in place before driving.
